We're
seeking the best fit for the student, family and BLC. Each of us has specific needs that must be considered.
Through this enrollment process BLC endeavors to find and enroll the students
who are the best fit for the program we are launching.
BLC has a very specific and unique program that is not going to be appropriate for every student.
We do not believe in the "One size fits all" approach to education,
so each family's needs will be carefully considered and evaluated in the context of what we have to offer and together
we will determine if this placement is likely to be best for everyone. After completing the three first steps you may request
an application to apply.
While we would love to enroll
everyone who needs or wants to be in our program, its unlikely we can accommodate everyone who has expressed interest.
We will be vetting each family on an individual
basis to ensure we understand their needs and that they fit our selection criteria as well as sharing as much as possible about our program for the family's consideration.
Unpacking BLC Enrollment process
To keep things simple, we have honed the enrollment process down to 3 essential steps:
This step routes your request so that we can know which people on our
team we need to introduce to you based on your interest in grade level and academic calendars. We also look at your location
and proximity to our Oakland based program. This data lets us know when and where to open our new programs in the future.
This step is BLC's opportunity
to learn about your family's needs and for you to learn more details about our program. Does BLC have the resources required
to serve your student? What are your expectations and do they match our deliverables? We are also considering how you might
engage with our community long term.
3. Student/s attends Enrollment Activity or has attended a previous BLC Program. This step allows BLC to see your student in action to see if they seem like a good
fit for our program and community. The WRAT4 test is a test for students over 7 years old, it provides us with the required
academic information we need for grade level placement and curriculum planning. Students under the age of 7 participate in
an activity with our team.
After completing the above 3 steps, parents of qualified students may request an application.
