Is my child a good "fit" for BLC?
Any type of learner would benefit from having a customized curriculum, but gifted learners truly NEED it.
Our program is designed for:
  • Highly or profoundly gifted learners
  • Learners with needs for multiple grade skips
  • Learners with a high need for autonomy
  • Learners who like choices and to contribute their opinion
  • Learners who love nature, animals and being outside
  • Learners who love science
  • Learners who can be self directed for 30 minutes or longer on an independent interest (not including video games)

To discuss your learner's needs in detail, please schedule a  meeting with the Director.  To schedule an appointment use the Contact us form

Deal Breakers, Students we cannot serve:

Getting the right fit for your student is critically important. It is vital that gifted students have the opportunity to associate with like minded peers. Ideally, we are looking for students who can self direct in any topic of interest. A deal breaker for us is a student who deliberately kills or harms animals of any kind.

The Truly Creative Mind
By Pearl S. Buck

"The truly creative mind in any field is no more than this:
A human creature born abnormally, inhumanly sensitive.
To him... a touch is a blow,
a sound is a noise,
a misfortune is a tragedy,
a joy is an ecstasy,
a friend is a lover,
a lover is a god,
and failure is death.

Add to this cruelly delicate organism the overpowering necessity to create, create, create - - - so that without the creating of music or poetry or books or buildings or something of meaning, his very breath is cut off from him. He must create, must pour out creation. By some strange, unknown, inward urgency he is not really alive unless he is creating." -Pearl S. Buck
